The video short Nao Mangue de Mim, Don’t Mess with the Mangroves, was selected to be included in one of the most important film festivals in Latin America, the 19th Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival, 21-29 August 2008. The video is the most recent co-production of Cine Clube Caravelas, Bahia, Brazil, and Mangrove Action Project, MAP, in collaboration with the Abrolhos Marine National Park.

During its first five years of operation, the Alliance has realized many significant goals that advance the Alliance’s mission to catalyze that shift toward a truly sustainable world by fostering collaboration among nonprofits, businesses, government and academia. In 2004 the Alliance purchased a former warehouse at 1536 Wynkoop Street in downtown Denver which was completely redeveloped using the most current green building and interior design tools and techniques.

Young activists will determine the future of the reproductive-justice movement. In June 2008, Ipas published and printed 1,000 copies of an exciting new resource for young activists interested in reproductive justice issues – the Advo.Kit. The kit contains tips, resources, and activities on abortion advocacy and its links to other social movements.

Susanna Shapiro, Program Officer for Latin American and the Caribbean at The Global Fund for Children, GFC, recently traveled to Central America. She visited eleven current grantee partners and eight prospective partners in Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala. While in Guatemala, Susanna visited Instituto para la Superación de la Miseria Urbana, ISMU. Following a landslide at a local garbage dump, many of the children ISMU serves were left orphaned.
